(f)air tightness® DOT, self-adhesive dots for taping staples

We highly recommend to tape all staples for air tightness membranes whenever you´re using an installation void (counter batten) between your air tightness membrane and your finishing ceiling layer. Every staple hole creates a tiny leakage for potential air infiltration, which will affect the air permeability in air tight buildings.

A survey in our training facility showed a deviation in air permeability and air change rate of approx. 20% between exposed and taped staples.

Instead of tearing air tightness tape for covering penetrations from staples, we recommend the use of (f)air tightness DOT prefabricated sealing dots, which can be easily pealed off the carrier.

Application:

• for air tightness layers with counter battens, to prevent air infiltration through staples

Limitation:

• for covering staples, nails and screws on the inside of the building only
